Posted by sara pereira on Monday, May 5, 2014, In : Cake

Dragons love Tacos happens to be a little boy's favorite book, so his parents decided to theme his first birthday after the book. Plus is goes well with 'cinco de mayo'!

We did the cake to mimic the cover of the book and created over 120 little tacos to decorate the entire cake with. The cake is Stardust Cakes' signature chocolate cake with silky vanilla frosting. The dragon and tacos are all made of fondant.

Unconventional First Communion Cake

Posted by sara pereira on Sunday, April 27, 2014, In : Cake

At Stardust Cakes we've done our fair share of First Communion Cakes: ranging from Bibles to loaves of bread and grapes. We were very excited, to receive a request for an unconventional approach to this cake.
Since the celebrant loves Barbies, and we've done a couple of Barbie cakes for her along the years, we made her a Barbie doll cake for her Communion cake. The doll's dress mimicked her own dress, with a few extra flowers for added complexity.

First Birthday with Spot

Posted by sara pereira on Monday, April 7, 2014, In : Birthday Parties

Some one very special just celebrated his very first birthday, and because he loves his puppy so much, the theme of the party was Spot the dog. The cake was a super healthified carrot cake with a white chocolate cream cheese frosting. The toppers were the baby boy and his dog made out of sugar.

The party had a lot of details. A full spread, personalized cookie jars and glass bottles. And the big hit of th party was the entertainment, a ball pit for babies and toddlers. What fun!

There were parachutes and coloring stations.

There were little 'Things' Running all around.

And speaking of things, check out these ADORABLE cookies from The Cookie Lab (www.thecookielab.net)  that we had flown in just for the ocasion.

What's your favorite animal?
We had a little girl who recently turned 5 and her favorite animal is a Pony. So for her very special day we crated a pony cake with electrifying hot pink, since that's her favorite color. It was simple yet elegant, and at the end of the party she told us her favorite part of the entire party was the cake! That was frosting to our ears! And I mean vanilla frosting! That's what this cake was filled with.  It was a Ponylicious Stardust signature vanilla cake and sil...

RiO Cake!

Posted by sara on Monday, May 21, 2012, In : Cake

Have you all seen Rio, the movie? I am not a fan of movies with animals as the main characters but this movie hit close to home since I grew up in Brazil and understood a lot of the references. Dancing uncontrolably like it runs in your veins anyone?
This past weekend Charlotte turned 5 and she wanted none other than Rio himself on her birthday cake.

It was a fun and colorful cake with I really enjoyed working on. But I have to say the best part was when I heard people whispering (not knowing w...

Double Birthday Party Fun

Posted by sara on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, In : Birthday Parties

We just had a fabulous weekend filled with 1st birthday fun!

First we took a tour of Paris, and then a whimsical ride down Dr Seuss Lane.

Our Parisian themed party was pretty in pink and full of treats that Marie Antoinette herself would approve of!

The first eye grabber when entering the room was the gorgeous dessert buffet table. We had cupcakes, macarons, cupcakes in a jar, cake pops, cookies, religieuses, and woopee pies, all in the shades of pink and white.
